Each month, I like to pause and gather up the little things that have grounded me, lifted my spirits, or just made life feel that bit more easeful. No pressure, no routines to perfect, just simple moments that felt good. Here’s what’s been bringing me joy and a sense of calm this month...
Favourite Nature Moment
We set our alarm for 3am and drove out to North Landing for sunrise. The cliffs were packed with birds, puffins, razorbills, guillemots, kittiwakes, even a peregrine falcon, and the sound of them nesting was amazing. We got on the paddleboards and explored the sea caves while the sun came up, then hiked the Flamborough Headland and Town Circular Trail along the coast. The water was a deep clear blue and the sun was already bright. It was one of those mornings I won’t forget for a while.
Recipe of the Month
I made this stir fry sauce and used it to marinate chicken thighs, then threw it all together with soba noodles and a stir fry of carrots, mangetout, red onion, peppers and bean sprouts. It was colourful, nourishing, and seriously tasty. One of those meals where you go “yep, doing that again”, perfect for a Friday night Fake-away!
Wellness Ritual I’m Loving
I started taking magnesium bisglycinate after hearing how good it can be for sleep, and wow. I’m waking up clearer, calmer, and with way more energy. It’s honestly made such a difference to my sleep and overall mood.
I’ve also started sleeping with my curtains open so the natural light wakes me up. I feel less groggy and more in sync with the day. Apparently, waking with natural light can help:
-
Support your circadian rhythm
-
Improve sleep quality
-
Boost mood and alertness
-
Regulate hormones like cortisol and melatonin
It’s a small change that’s working wonders.
A Mindset Reminder
This month reminded me how powerful it is to show up fully, even when it’s uncomfortable. I had a comment on one of my ads that would’ve knocked me a year ago. But now? It’s a reminder that not everyone will get it, and that’s okay. Because the people who do get it, really get it.
So if you’ve been holding back, whether it’s your work, your voice, or just showing up as you, this is your nudge: don’t dim your light. You’re here to take up space.
Quote I Keep Coming Back To
"Energy flows where attention goes."
A gentle reminder to notice what I’m feeding, with my time, thoughts, and energy. It’s helped me redirect my focus when I start spiralling into distractions.
Final Thoughts
This round-up isn’t about doing more, it’s about noticing what’s already here. The little moments that soothe us, spark joy, or gently remind us we’re moving in the right direction.
If something here made you smile or gave you a spark of inspiration, feel free to share it with someone who might need it too. Sometimes, the smallest things make the biggest difference.
