We’ve moved through the Flower Full Moon and now the light is dipping again, a new moon is on the way. I always find this part of the cycle a little gentler. Less outward, more inward. Like a reset without the pressure. This new moon arrives on 27th May, and it feels like a moment to breathe, re-centre, and quietly come back to what matters.
What The May New Moon Symbolises
New moons have always been tied to new beginnings. It’s a time for setting intentions, planting seeds (literally and metaphorically), and getting really honest with yourself about where you are, and where you’d like to be heading.
This one falls in Gemini, which is a sign that’s all about curiosity, connection, and communication. It’s a good time to clear mental clutter, ask better questions, and explore new ways of thinking. You don’t need to have the answers, it’s more about being open to them.
What This Moon Might Bring Up
This moon might stir a few things, especially around how you connect with others and how you speak to yourself.
It’s a great time to:
-
Notice the stories you’re telling (and whether they’re true)
-
Let go of old mental loops
-
Be open to changing your mind, or your direction
-
Make space for new ideas to land
For me, it feels like a time to let things be light again. To stop holding so tightly, and to start asking: what if this could feel easier?
Gentle New Moon Prompts to Reflect On
Whether you journal, think while walking, or just want something to mull over in the bath, here are a few prompts to work with around this new moon:
-
What’s something I’m ready to start fresh with, even in a small way?
-
Where am I overthinking or overexplaining?
-
What would feel like a breath of fresh air right now?
-
How can I create more space for ease or curiosity in my day?
A Simple New Moon Ritual
You don’t need anything fancy to mark this moment. One of my favourite things to do is just sit quietly with a candle, write a few intentions down, and keep them somewhere visible for the week ahead.
Or take a slow walk in nature, no phone, no pressure, just noticing what’s around you and what’s coming up internally. Let it be simple. Let it be yours.
Final Thoughts
This new moon is a gentle one. If the full moon was about release, this is your moment to soften and begin again, quietly, intentionally, and without rushing.
Whatever you're planting this month, an idea, a boundary, a mindset, or even just some peace, trust that it’ll take root in its own time. You don’t have to force it.
Speak kindly to yourself, and let this be your fresh start, however small it needs to be.
